- Multifunction tool
- 3.5 mm wood drill bit
- G-clamps
- Mechanical pencil lead
Materials
- 2 phenolic resin-coated plywood sheets (9 x 700 x 700 mm)
- 2 pine wooden slats (9 x 80 x 2000 mm)
- 28 bamboo sticks (10 measuring 16 mm x 2 m; 10 measuring 23 mm x 2 m; 8 measuring 31 mm x 2 m)
- 2 suspension eyes
- Approx. 200 wood screws (3.5 x 20 mm)
Step 1: Prepare the Wooden Slats and Plywood Sheets
Cut and shape the base materials
-
Cut the wooden slats into four pieces:
- Two at 700 mm.
- Two at 1,300 mm.
-
Mark a quarter-circle on each plywood sheet using a wooden slat as a compass.
-
Secure the sheets with G-clamps and use a jigsaw to cut out the marked quarter circles.
Step 2: Trim the Bamboo Sticks
Cut the bamboo sticks to size
- Use a NanoBlade saw to trim the bamboo sticks to fit the quarter-circle edges.
- Ensure that the bamboo sticks align perfectly along the curve of the plywood sheets.
Step 3: Attach the Bamboo Sticks
Secure the bamboo to the plywood
- Clamp bamboo sticks to the plywood sheets.
- Drill two holes into each bamboo stick using a 3.5 mm wood drill bit.
- Secure the sticks with wood screws (3.5 x 20 mm).
- Repeat the process until all plywood sheets are lined with bamboo sticks.
Step 4: Adjust and Align Bamboo Sticks
Trim and refine the bamboo edges
- Use a multifunction tool to cut any excess bamboo so it aligns with the plywood edge.
- Sand rough edges for a smooth finish.
